The Giant’s Causeway is one of the most iconic and geologically unique sites in Northern Ireland, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s located on the north coast of County Antrim. It’s a natural wonder made up of around 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, most of them hexagonal. These columns were formed about 50–60 million years ago as a result of intense volcanic activity during the Paleogene Period.
